WHAT EMPLOYEES WANT
The vast majority of people in private sector firms want to continue to develop professionally and believe that they have yet to achieve their potential at work, according to the annual online surveys we have commissioned from OnePoll since January 2008.
Every year more than 4,000 employees have completed by the questionnaire and regularly more than:
- 92% reported that ongoing learning and development was important to them
- 73% would like to have more opportunities to develop at work and believe they have yet to achieve their full potential in the workplace
But the research also showed that employer’s commitment to the type of training that employees really want is on the wane.
Consistently employees say they want accredited short courses that have accreditation attached to them yet the perceived offer of employers in this area has declined year on year in this area.
It’s crucial that businesses continue to invest in the skills and talent of their people to build motivation, commitment and capability for the future and to do this in a way that their employees value.
